Tom Courtney is a private equity investor and investment banker. Mr. Courtney has completed over 120 transactions involving financings, acquisitions and divestitures over the past 20 years. Since its founding in 1995 The Courtney Group, Incorporated and its affiliates have completed 11 investments in businesses as principal. Investment banking including advising on private placements of securities and mergers & acquisitions is handled through The Courtney Group, LLC, a registered broker-dealer, member NASD and SIPC.

The Courtney Group has earned a reputation as a trusted advisor to middle market companies, bringing to bear experience, relationships and expertise.

Prior to establishing The Courtney Group in 1995, Mr. Courtney worked at Morgan Stanley & Co., Alex. Brown & Sons, Inc, James D. Wolfensohn Incorporated, and Peers & Co. Mr. Courtney received an undergraduate degree in Economics from Princeton University and an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

For its investments, The Courtney Group focuses on divestitures from large corporations as well as private company owners. The typical company size is between $10 million to $300 million in revenues. In addition, The Courtney Group has an executive team of 40 senior operating executives who assist in developing ideas, evaluating opportunities, and operating the businesses in which the firm invests. These senior executives may join the board of directors of a portfolio company and may take active roles in the operations of the businesses, as needed.
